Myofunctional Therapy for the Active Adult
Karen Parker is an oral myofunctional therapist in Edmonds ,WA who focuses on healthy outcomes with patients that experience mouth breathing, tongue thrust, sleep apnea and tongue tie, TMJ pain and other myofunctional concerns.
Throughout Karen's extensive dental career she has been committed to continuous learning. Her education has lead her down a path of Holistic Health/Dentistry, incorporating laser and nutrition into the care she provides to her patients. She has been identifying myofunctional disorders, and the negative impact that it has on ones life. This year lead her on a journey to actively engage in the therapies that would improve myofunctional disorders such as tongue tie, low tongue posture, mouth breathing and dysfunctional swallow patterns.
Myofunctional therapy works by retraining the jaw, cheek, and tongue muscles into healthy habits. These healthy habits in turn reshape the teeth, jaws, and related structures into healthy forms. These healthy forms support healthy function, so you can reduce or eliminate the symptoms of your Orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMD).
Karen is a member of the American Dental Hygiene Association, Academy of Laser Dentistry, American Association of Oral Systemic Health and the National Network of Healthcare Hygienists
